Cómo Comenzó Todo: Amy Hochman tuvo una carrera de varias décadas, premiada, como editora de televisión antes de que los presupuestos reducidos disminuyeran la producción y la industria experimentara un cambio importante, ya que nuevas aplicaciones han transformado la manera en que las personas interactúan con el entretenimiento multimedia. “Nunca pensé que tendría mi propio negocio. De hecho, solía decir: ‘Bueno, soy más creativa; nunca podría tener un negocio propio’”, comparte Amy Hochman, fundadora de .
El programa NYS SEAP requiere que todos los participantes completen 20 horas de capacitación en emprendimiento, y MOBI es uno de los recursos recomendados por el programa. MOBI y NYS SEAP tienen un acuerdo mediante el cual el curso de o el curso de MOBI cumplen con el requisito de 20 horas.
Amy tomó el curso de para cumplir con el requisito de NYS SEAP, poco después de descubrir el Reiki y convertirse en Practicante Maestra Certificada de Reiki. Posteriormente, fundó , integrando su certificación CRMP con su formación previa de su Maestría en Trabajo Social (MSW) para combinar la terapia tradicional con la sanación energética y ofrecer un enfoque holístico en su práctica y a sus clientes.
Cómo Ayudó MOBI: Amy consideró que el contenido del curso de MOBI es accesible, fácil de entender y muy completo. “Desde la primera frase, ‘¿Realmente quiere iniciar un negocio?’, MOBI es fácil de usar, fácil de entender y muy fácil de relacionar con su propia experiencia”, compartió Amy. “MOBI apoya mucho a las personas que desean iniciar su propio negocio, incluso si no cuentan con muchos recursos para hacerlo. Además, es un programa muy completo”.
Aprender sobre las fue especialmente útil para ayudar a Amy a entender las diferencias entre tipos de entidades, como sociedad, LLC, propietario único, entre otras. En su carrera anterior, no había estado expuesta al concepto del embudo de ventas, ni a las diferentes etapas por las que pasa un cliente en su camino hacia realizar una compra. Ella considera que esa sesión ofreció ideas muy valiosas.
Amy también sintió que el curso de de MOBI la ayudó a establecer expectativas realistas al lanzar su negocio. “Administre bien sus expectativas. Asegúrese de tener dinero para seguir adelante, para pagar su hipoteca, su renta, su comida o cualquier otro gasto, porque al principio no tendrá muchos clientes”, comparte Amy. Las sesiones de y de MOBI también la ayudaron a reflexionar sobre sus finanzas y a entender mejor cómo administrar su dinero y sus recursos.
Qué Sigue: Amy está entusiasmada con las oportunidades de sanación que han surgido desde el lanzamiento de su negocio. Además de ofrecer sesiones de sanación individuales y grupales, tanto en persona como a distancia, también organiza círculos de Reiki. Estos círculos le permiten presentar los beneficios del Reiki a más personas, diversificar sus oportunidades de ingresos y ampliar su base de clientes. Además, Amy ha incorporado terapia de luz roja como un servicio opcional que puede combinarse con sus sesiones de sanación, y también ofrece tratamientos para compañeros animales. Broadcast television editor Amy Hochman discovered the wellness practice of Reiki when her career took an unexpected turn. How it Started: Amy Hochman had a decades-long, award-winning career in broadcast television editing before tight budgets decreased production, and the industry underwent a major shift as new applications have changed the way people engage with multimedia entertainment. Around that time she discovered the Reiki practice of energy healing, although she says of her experience, “Typically you don’t find Reiki, Reiki finds you.” She was so inspired that she pursued a course to become a master practitioner. Amy never thought of herself as an entrepreneur, but she found MOBI through the and something clicked.
“I never thought I would have my own business. In fact, I used to say, ‘Well, I'm more of a creative type, I could never have a business of my own,’” shares Amy Hochman, founder of .
NYS SEAP requires all participants to pursue 20 hours of entrepreneurship training, and MOBI is one of the resources the program recommends. MOBI and NYS SEAP have an agreement whereby either MOBI’s course or its course fulfills the 20 hour requirement.
Amy pursued the course to meet her NYS SEAP requirement shortly after discovering Reiki and becoming a Certified Reiki Master Practitioner. Amy then founded , integrating her CRMP certification with her previous Master of Social Work (MSW) education to blend traditional therapy with energy healing and bring a holistic approach to her practice and her clients.
How MOBI Helped: Amy found the MOBI curriculum to be accessible, easy to understand, and very thorough. “From the first sentence, ‘Do you even want to start a business?’ MOBI is easy to use, easy to understand, and very relatable,” shared Amy. “MOBI is very supportive of the person who is starting their own business, who may not have any resources to do so. And it is very thorough.”
Learning about the was particularly useful in helping Amy understand the differences among entities such as a partnership, LLC, sole proprietorship, etc. She also enjoyed the session. In her previous career she had not been exposed to the idea of the sales funnel, and the different stages a customer goes through on their journey toward making a purchase. She felt the session had some great ideas.
Amy also felt that the MOBI course helped her set realistic expectations when launching her business. "Manage your expectations, make sure you have the money to keep going, to pay your mortgage, pay your rent, pay your food bills, whatever, because you're not going to have a lot of business to start,” Amy shares. MOBI’s sessions on and helped her think about her finances and how to manage her money and resources.
What’s Next: Amy is excited about the healing opportunities that have come her way following her business launch. In addition to providing individual and group healing sessions both in person and over distances, she hosts Reiki circles as well. Reiki circles allow Amy to introduce more people to the benefits of Reiki, diversify her revenue opportunities, and expand her customer base. In addition, she has added red light therapy as an optional bundle with her healing services and also provides treatments for animal companions. Amy is looking forward to continuing to promote her business, welcoming new clients, and sharing Reiki’s healing energy.
