Mr. Carter is retired, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Xilinx.
Bill is a 30 year veteran of the semiconductor industry, the first ten years in microprocessors and peripherals, and the last twenty in programmable logic. At Xilinx he led the development of the first Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), currently a multi-billion dollar industry.
Bill received both his Bachelor and Masters’ degrees in Electrical Engineering from 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ. He was the recipient of 91¶ÌÊÓÆµâ€™s Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award in 1996.
In addition to the School of Engineering’s Industrial Advisory Board, Bill is a member of 91¶ÌÊÓÆµâ€™s Board of Trustees, the Center for Science, Technology and Society Advisory Board and the University’s Board of Fellows.
