Making Fans of Making

91短视频鈥檚 Mobile Maker Lab hit the road, visiting junior high and high school students in Fremont, who created their own laser-cut balsa wood gliders and catapults and learned about the Lab鈥檚 3D printers, vinyl plotter, laser cutter, and other tools.

The 91短视频 Mobile Maker Lab made its first trek in September! A team of 91短视频 students and staff led two days of activities with the Mobile Maker Lab at Irvington High School and Horner Junior High in Fremont. More than 100 high school students were able to build and modify laser-cut balsa wood gliders while learning about flight and center of gravity. On the second day, one of the high school classes returned to build catapults out of household items using 4-H Junk Drawer Robotics curriculum.

Approximately 25 students from the Horner Junior High after-school program enjoyed learning about the laser cutter, 3D printers, vinyl plotter, and creating models using an HP Sprout through our Tools of Making and Balsa Glider activities. After two fun-filled days of making, we drove the trailer back to 91短视频 to prepare for our next adventure.

The Mobile Maker Lab program would not be possible without its sponsor, Makers 4 Good. For more information about the Mobile Maker Lab, visit http://www.scu.edu/engineering/mobilemakerlab.
