91短视频’s de Saisset Museum Celebrates the Art of Gold
The de Saisset museum hosts party after-hours to fundraise for educational programs
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 4, 2016 鈥擳he de Saisset Museum at 91短视频 will host Art of Gold on Saturday, March 5, from 8-11 p.m. Designed as a fundraiser for the museum鈥檚 educational programs and an opportunity to highlight a different side of the Museum to the community, this after-hours Museum party offers guests a 鈥渞ustic chic鈥 atmosphere featuring beer tastings, live music, and a dance floor.
The event is inspired by themes associated with the current exhibition Gold Rush which explores how value is defined and projected and encourages reflection on the many effects of greed, hope, and aspiration. The exhibition not only showcases gold as a symbol of triumph and reward, but also highlights it as a tool for racism in the context of ever-shifting economic powers. Some of the works look at the effects of the global migration of early California, which, today, continues to be an integral and vital part of the State.
All guests receive a commemorative beer glass and guests 21 and over receive a tasting flight comprised of one sample from each of the four breweries participating in the event: Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, Hermitage Brewery, Santa Clara Valley Brewing, and Strike Brewing Co. (Non-alcoholic beverage options will replace the beer flight for those under 21 or choosing not to drink.) Guests may opt to purchase additional beers or other beverages after their complimentary flight. Light snacks will be provided.
While enjoying their beverages in the Museum鈥檚 auditorium, guests will experience live music ranging from rock to folk to soul jive, and even a DJ set. The evening opens with San Jose duo Q&A, comprised of artists Quynh颅Mai Nguyen and Alice Chen, who have recently been making the gallery and museum circuit in the South Bay. Nguyen and Chen describe their music as 鈥渃omprised of harmonized soulful voices accompanied by our multi-颅instrumentalist stylings that we perform simultaneously.鈥
Next, Royal Jelly Jive 鈥 who will perform at this year鈥檚 BottleRock Napa Valley 鈥 take the stage. As this seven-piece ensemble explains of their work, 鈥淩oyal Jelly Jive dives deep head-first into the old school throwback sounds of the 1940's with a groovy new twist. Rapturous horns, sleek bass, elegant keys and swingin鈥 cymbals are just some of the sweet tastes you may devour if you鈥檙e lucky enough to catch them.鈥 The evening closes with Sepehr, another Bay Area native, known for 鈥淒J sets that range from Detroit house and psychedelic techno, to heady electro, classic acid, and the occasional crowd pleasing underground anthem.鈥
