About the Center

Rev. Francis L. Markey Center for Leadership & Ministry

Our Mission

An extension of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries, the Markey Center for Leadership and Ministry forms compassionate, critically-minded, and creative leaders to serve the church and world. We celebrate and nurture the gifts of diverse leaders, with a special focus on women in ministry. Our lifelong learning opportunities address real needs, ever seeking transformation toward love and justice.

Our Vision

We envision vibrant, inclusive, and just communities, served by well-formed and resilient leaders.

Who We Serve

We serve lay and ordained leaders working “on the ground” in parishes, schools, and other ministry settings. We provide lectures, in-person and online workshops, and other programs and resources that aim to meet their real needs. We empower them to lead well within particular contexts and communities, with the ultimate aim of transforming those communities for the better.

We serve life-long learners and aspiring leaders who are thirsty for theologically and spiritually rich conversations and communal experiences. We do this locally through in-person programming – on campus and in parishes. We expand our reach through online opportunities and resources.

In light of our mission and vision, our offerings are:

Spiritually Enriching

  • We honor the sacred. We examine and strive to deepen faith.

Intellectually Robust

  • We practice critical and generative thinking.

Morally Challenging

  • We build character and expand the moral imagination.

Hospitable

  • We create welcoming spaces, marked by authentic dialogue.

Joyful

  • We share and savor joy because we believe that the gospel inspires it.
